For the Brewsters, insanity runs in the family. Martha & Abby, the two sweet elderly aunts, perform their own kind of charity by poisoning lonely old men with nothing to live for. Their bugle-blowing nephew, Teddy, who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt and that the Panama Canal runs through the basement, is charged with burial duties. His soon-to-be-married brother, theater critic Mortimer, discovers the murders in the house and sets out to try and protect society without betraying his family. Finally there is brother Jonathon, a nefarious criminal hiding from the law behind layers of plastic surgery. Add in love, hate, the law, some corpses, and a drunken plastic surgeon and mayhem will surely reign.

This play contains mature themes and language!!!!!!!!!
By Jeffery Hatcher
Directed by Richard H. Pegg
In 1661 the most famous portrayer of female roles on the London stage was the performer "Kyaston". Like every other player permitted by law to portray such roles, Kynaston was a man. Edward Kynaston is applauded on stage and off for his interpretations of Shakespeare's tragic ladies, Ophelia and especially his Desdemona with it's famous 'death scene'. He's the toast of the town and the very secret "mistress" of the powerful Duke of Buckingham. But when the unknown Margaret Hughes plays Desdemona at an illegal theatre, instead of stopping the show, the ever game King Charles II changes the law to allow women to act and Kynaston's world is turned upside down. He loses his cachet, his livelihood, his lover and his sense of self. Nell Gwynn, King Charles' mistress, even Kynaston's former dresser, Maria become stars. His own light disappears until fate and his desire for revenge give him the chance to take to the stage again.

Steve Oliver with Louis Colaiannia
Friday, September 17 @ 8:00 p.m.
Genre: Smooth Jazz
Doors: 7:00PM
Show: 8:00PM
More than a decade ago, guitarist and vocalist Steve Oliver burst onto the contemporary jazz scene with a sound so fresh, so positive, so bright, that he immediately became a favorite on radio stations with songs like "West End" and "Highway One." The Weather Channel loved his music so much it put "Right Direction" into heavy rotation during its local weather breaks. Smooth Jazz News magazine named Oliver its Debut Artist of the Year. Now, after four studio CDs, a Christmas project and a CD that captured his infectious live-on-stage energy, Oliver returns with Global Kiss on SOM Entertainment. As the title makes clear, Global Kiss expands Oliver's repertoire with its world-music energy while retaining the lyrical melodies and song hooks that have made him a fan favorite. "The concept is of global influence and world music, how you can put that flavor into jazz and R&B tunes," says Oliver, who commissioned contemporary jazz saxophonist and graphic artist Marion Meadows to design the CD's bright and inspiring cover. "The CD touches on different cultures, from Brazil, India, the Middle East, America, Europe. I've always loved taking different styles of music and blending them into a cohesive vibe. That's always attracted me as a listener, as well."

By John Patrick Shanley
Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best New Play and the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
In this brilliant and powerful drama, Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students.
Shanley penned the Academy Award-winning screenplay for Moonstruck as well as Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and Savage in Limbo, both of which were part of BETC's Season 1. Featuring BETC’s Rebecca Remaly and Stephen Weitz, and introducing visiting artist Elizabeth Dowd as Sister Aloysius.
“Doubt is a lean, potent drama… passionate, exquisite, important and engrossing.” —NY Newsday
“An eloquent and provocative investigation of truth and consequences. A gripping mystery, tightly written.” —Time Out
Producing Ensemble Director’s Comments: We are very excited to present one of the most powerful and evocative plays in recent dramatic history. It’s amazing to me how Shanley, in what appears to be such a streamlined and simple story, manages to touch on so many potent themes. Bringing this stirring drama to Boulder audiences is a perfect way to kick off our 5th Season.
